Beauty & Freedom
The last couple of days in Marseille, and now Nice—I have been surrounded by incredible beauty. It's so damn amazing that I wish everyone could experience it. The best I can do right now is share on Instagram, Snapchat, and here. I've included some images in this post & I'll be adding some higher res ones under "Pictures."
The last week or so I've been like "What is my life?!" I really am grateful to be in this position right now. I am so far off of where I thought I'd be even a year ago. Anyway, I wanted to share some thoughts on this thing called "beauty." Specifically, after spending my Saturday riding an electric bike along the coast of southern France, I spent a lot of time reflecting on how awe-mazing it was. Really, I was in shock..."Am I dreaming? How am I here right now?!"
I've only had a few instances where the beauty of my surroundings literally gets to me, it sounds strange, but it brings out emotion. It's a weird and wonderful feeling. The only way you'll experience it is if you go somewhere that literally takes your breath away—cliché & all. The moment it hits you, you realize you have no problem doing absolutely nothing. Stand there, sit there, be there. You just want to absorb it (as much as you can, which is never enough) and enjoy it—absolute bliss.
The last little bit that I wanted to share about was freedom. For context: in France, scooters, motorcycles, and bikes are everywhere...everywhere. So, when you're on a two-wheeled machine, you often ride in between traffic, in the center. Some may find it scary, but once you get the hang of it, you build confidence—it's so much fun.
So on this electric bike journey, I was cruising down the coast, going through small towns, and it was one of the most incredible sensations. Pure freedom. I felt like I had no worries, I was in complete control at that moment, not even traffic would get in my way. Flying between traffic, in between cars—the complete opposite of stagnation. This, again, is something I wish I could share with you but unfortunately 1. I don't have a GoPro to get cool footage, safely and 2. video footage wouldn't give it justice, you just gotta go do it. Beauty & freedom make a great combination.
I'll be here in Nice 2 nights, then I think I'll be heading to Milan, Italy. Make sure to follow me on Instagram & Snapchat: ASWolfe91 for live updates.
